I was trying to highlight the particular American flavour of the demonization of liberalism, that seems to have spread to Europe. To those of us outside the US, the neo-cons seem to have punched above their weight, because the most repugnant aspects of neo-conservatism are to do with foreign policy, and how they treated the pinko liberals who believe in the United Nations, etc etc.
