Left eye

This is a photograph of the retina of my left eye, taken 9th May 2008. The only way to see what is wrong is to compare it with my healthy right eye. The “Milky Way” pattern with white dots in the bottom left hand quarter of the retina, is inflammation. The milkiness of the image is gunk floating around in the eyeball.

To appreciate how my vision is affected, imagine this “Milky Way” pattern is turned upside down – because the image projected onto the retina, that goes through the pupil, is upside down. Then imagine a photographic negative of it – what is white is black, or really a dark sepia brown. Put that over your left eye, and that’s what I’m seeing. About 50% reduction in light.
