The Consumers’ Association of Ireland have issued a press release relating to the 97 written complaints they received re the Barbra Streisand concert in Celbridge. (The CAI is a voluntary organisation dedicated to protecting consumers’ rights. The statutory body, The National Consumer Agency, has yet to issue a report.) They say that MCD will be issuing their own response to the complaints they received in the week beginning September 10th 2007.
From the press release:
The Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980 provides for the consumer to expect that:
- The supplier has the necessary skill to provide the service and that;
- The service will be provided with proper care and diligence.
This, clearly, was not the case in this instance.

I would just like to say that despite the upheaval on the night I really really enjoyed the concert. Babs is fab and i would have swam through muck to hear her!! not that one should have to!! I envisaged the upheavel and prepared my trip well in advance and it all worked out fine for me! Clearly the organisers were not informed and did not do their home work! I hope this does not happen again.
I have never been compensated for the Barbra Streisand fiasco, even though MCD contacted me last October to tell me i would be.
October of last year is the one and only time they have bothered to reply to my phone calls. Totally fed up now.
Hi, I had “TICKETS” for Barbra Streisand concert. They were the SSS number. I wrote to MCD and because I was seated 3 times in other peoples seat they sent me a cheque for 200.00 euro. I paid 571.00 for them. I am now going to the small claims court. I hope this will succeed. If someone else has other ideas please post your comment. I would like to obect to all their concerts as they seems to be alot of people not paid.
