Astrology Bookmarks

Update: To those looking for astrology bookmarks, I apologise – spammers took the site over making it impossible for me to maintain. I did not have the resources to cope, and I couldn’t afford to get a professional in to create a spam-proof site. It was popular though. Please check out Elsa’s cool site which, she says, was inspired by it!

Been busy today. I’ve been trying to get my head around encouraging people to join my planned website for free, what works and what doesn’t. In an effort to try to imagine what it would be like to manage a community of users in a social networking site, I thought I’d better set one up. So that’s what I did today.Astrology Bookmarks is for astrologers to share their favourite web resources. It’s done with , the open-source social bookmarking software. I am delighted with it, but they still haven’t quite mastered CSS yet, so it’s a bit hairy, still. And the tags are comma separated, which has its advantages, but is a bit confusing. But it’s going to be interesting to see if it attracts anyone at all, and if it does, whether a special-interest group behaves any differently to a general one like those who use del.icio.us.

I remember the hours I spent ten years ago maintaining the “definitive” list of astrology links by hand, and am really impressed with this new way of harnessing the collective mind to create authoritative lists – and feeds.
